Filing for County Offices Closes; Three Races

Race Develops for Sheriff's Post
Wednesday, March 26, 2008, C-T

The filing period for Livingston County offices up for election this fall closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday with one final race developing in the last five minutes - that for the office of sheriff. At 4:55 p.m., Shautcey Munson-Henry, filed her candidacy on Democrat ticket for the office of sheriff. She resides at 207 E. Third, Chillicothe. She will face incumbent Steve Cox who filed on the Republican ticket on the opening day of the filing period. Her filing created a third race for county offices this year.

Other races are found for the offices of collector/treasurer and west district commissioner. In the collector/treasurer race, Democrat Martha Peery is seeking the post currently held by Deanna Kepner, who filed for re-election on the Democrat ticket. Four candidates - one Republican and three Democrats - are seeking the west district commissioner's post currently held by Kenneth Warren. Candidates are David Baker, filing on the Republican ticket, and Democrats Toi D. Swartz, Kenneth Warren seeking re-election, and Todd W. Rodenberg.

Three incumbents whose terms are up for election are uncontested in their bids for re-election. They are Assessor Steve Ripley (Democrat), East District Commissioner Ken Lauhoff (Democrat), and Public Administrator Sherry Parks (Democrat).
