County Officials Sworn Into Offices

Six elected county officials were sworn into their offices on Friday in a public ceremony held in the circuit courtroom of the courthouse with around 60 people in attendance.

James P. Valbracht (R), who won his bid for associate circuit judge in November, was sworn into office by Judge Barbara Lame, who served on the bench for 30 years.

Eva Danner (D) was sworn in as Livingston County Presiding Commissioner. Danner won her race for the position in November and will begin her fourth, four-year term as presiding commissioner.

The race for recorder of deeds was decided in August and Gordon Smith (D) was sworn into that office during the ceremony on Friday. Smith has served as an elected county official since 1987 and was first elected recorder of deeds in 2004.

Brenda (Timmons) Wright (D) was sworn in as circuit court clerk. She was elected circuit clerk/ex-officio recorder of deeds in 1999.

Kelly Christopher (D) was sworn in as county clerk, a position she has filled since 1990.

Michael P. Koenig (R) was sworn into office as Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney. Koenig had a private law practice in Chillicothe for three years and also worked 10 years in law enforcement.

Wright, Christopher and Koenig all ran unopposed in the 2006 elections. Wright, Danner and Smith were sworn in by Kelly Christopher. Christopher was sworn in by Brenda Wright. Judge Lame also swore in Koenig.
