Taking Office
Wednesday, April 1, 2009, C-T

CAPTION: Martha Peery (left), who was elected Livingston County collector-treasurer in the November 2008 general election, took the oath of office Tuesday in the associate courtroom of the courthouse. County Clerk Kelly Christopher (right) administered the oath of office and Peery’s granddaughter, Chloe Peery (center), held the Bible during the ceremony. While the four-year terms of most county offices begin Jan. 1, the term of collector-treasure begins April 1, due to the settlement of tax collections. Prior to her election, Peery had served as Chillicothe Township collector from 1991 through 2007 when tax collections were moved to a central tax collection site.
